Ten charged in Sarasota cocaine operation
SARASOTA, Fla. - Sarasota Police have announced the results of an 18-month investigation into drug dealing and trafficking in Sarasota that has resulted in the recovery of 12 kilos of cocaine.
10 arrests were made, five vehicles were seized, $115,000 in cash was seized, and cocaine with a street value of $500,000 was recovered.
According to the Sarasota Police Department, "Operation Sarasota Cartel II" began in August 2012 and ran through January 2014.
"Those who we arrested are major drug suppliers and dealers in the drug trade. We've arrested 10 people who are major distributors and drug traffickers in our area. This is one of the most significant investigations ever done by the Bureau of Criminal Investigations Narcotics Division within the City of Sarasota," said Lt. James Rieser, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Sarasota Police Department.
