It is about a two-hour drive east of Fort Myers to Broward County. That is where a middle school teacher was recently found in the back seat of her car with a 15-year-old former student at 2 in the morning.

The 33-year-old drama teacher was charged with sexual assault on a minor and lewd and lascivious activity on a minor. According to law enforcement officials, county deputies happened upon her vehicle just minutes after she and the teen allegedly had sex.

The teacher had taught drama to a class the teen took in eighth grade.

According to the arrest report, she denied any sexual activity with the former student when confronted by the deputies. She allegedly told the officers that the teenager had been trying “to seduce her.”

The arrest report states that “the defendant said she was only trying to mentor him while they were both occupying the back seat of her vehicle.”

According to a report in People magazine, she has been ordered to wear an ankle monitor while out on bail and to not have any contact with the teen. She has been reassigned to a different school, officials said, and will not have contact with students until matters are resolved.

She faces the possibility of prison if convicted. Anyone in that situation does well to speak as quickly as possible with a criminal defense attorney experienced in sex crimes defense.
