Cape Coral man jailed for alleged sex assault on girls

Ariel Insua of Cape Coral was jailed last week for an alleged sexual assault on a girl and her friend. Neighbors tell us they can't believe something so sinister might have been happening so close to home.

"It's never been a problem. I've always been on top of my son to see how he's doing. I know all the kids in the neighborhood and the friends and we know the parents. We all know each other," said Monica Toro, a neighborhood mother.

But tonight, the details of a Cape Coral police report have I don't think you're going to see as much kids as you see them now it's going to be very scary..." Toro some parents on edge.

"It doesn't sit very well with me. I mean, we have kids, there's tons of kids that play outside. There is constantly kids walking up and down the street playing in this neighborhood, so it's very unsettling," said Paul Metzler.

The details of the investigation accuse Insua of forcibly kissing and inappropriately touching the victims.

At one point, the report states: "He continued to harass the girls and touch them against their will and ask for oral sex."

Parents say while unfortunate, it's a reminder that parents need to talk to their kids.

"I have to talk to him, let my son know that if he sees something happening in the neighborhood he has to let me know," Isabelle Veratestegui-Tapia.

The report also states the first attack happened in Cape Coral in November of last year. It was then that Insua allegedly told the victims he wouldn't tell on them for sneaking out before forcing his hands underneath one of the girls' shirts.

The family moved, but the assault continued until early this month. Both victims are now pressing charges.

"I don't think you're going to see as much kids as you see them now. It's going to be very scary," Toro said.

Insua faces several charges, including battery, several sex offenses and indecent exposure.
