Cape Coral police dismantled a meth lab Monday night and arrested a 21-year-old woman on charges of trafficking and producing methamphetamine.
Janet A. Raymond, of 1216 NE 16th Terrace, was taken into custody, according to a police news release.
Officers were originally sent to the home after receiving a report of a possible burglary in progress, police said. When they arrived, they found items used in the production of meth and called narcotics detectives, who obtained a search warrant for the home.
Detectives seized more than one pound of meth and supplies for cooking the drugs, according to police.
“Our Patrol Officers are trained to recognize the signs of a meth lab. Their experience and knowledge enabled them to discover this extremely dangerous operation while initially at the home for another matter,” police spokesman Lt. Tony Sizemore said in the release. “Fortunately we were able to dismantle this meth lab before something tragic happened in this neighborhood.”
