Fort Myers man arrested after weapons, drugs discovery

Fort Myers man was arrested Friday and several weapons and drugs seized during the execution of two search warrants.

Otis Jiles, 38, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation.

The search warrants were conducted Friday at two locations – one each on South and Apache streets.

On South Street, where Jiles was arrested, police found various drugs and a Dickson .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun. Among the drugs were marijuana, 12 grams of cocaine Hcl, and drug paraphernalia that included digital scales, packaging material and baggies. The total street value of drugs seized was $1,200.

On Apache Street, police seized one Springfield .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun, 30 grams of cocaine base or crack that was in the form of “crack cookies,” 8 grams of morphine (20 pills), 2 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia used for the packaging and distribution of illegal drugs. Total street value of drugs seized was $3,500. No arrests were reported during this bust, and the investigation continues.
