A Lehigh Senior High School student was arrested Monday after deputies say they found cocaine in his car during a search of the school parking lot.
The 16-year-old student (whom The News-Press is not identifying because of his age), was arrested on a charge of possession of cocaine, according to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office report.
A Lee County school resource officer and a K-9 unit were searching the parking lot when the dog alerted its handler to the driver’s side of a maroon Toyota Corolla.
The student registered to the vehicle was brought to the parking lot, where the deputy searched the car in the presence of the school’s assistant principal.
The deputy found a rock of cocaine in a plastic bag hidden in the side of the car’s center console.
The student was transported to the Lee County Juvenile Assessment Center.
