A 19-month investigation in Lee County led to the arrest of an Immokalee man, who has been charged with 37 counts of prescription fraud.
Albert Lozano, 36, was arrested Monday by Lee County deputies.
Lozano began receiving prescriptions from as many as six doctors in 2009, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. In October 2011, A New Life Pain Management clinic contacted the sheriff’s office about Lozano’s possible “doctor shopping,” which set off the investigation.
Lozano had been receiving prescriptions for Xanax and Roxicodone from two different doctors each month for nearly two years, according to the warrant affidavit.
The felony charges Lozano faces are punishable by up to five years in prison. He remains in Lee County Jail with no bond set.
