| Apr 25, 2013 | Drug Crime, Drug Violations, marijuana

A Punta Gorda man was arrested Tuesday after deputies reported finding marijuana and two baby alligators at his home.

Pablo Cauz, 49, has been charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of an American alligator. He remains in Charlotte County Jail on $28,000 bond.

On April 23, Charlotte County detectives and Charlotte County Animal Control officers went to Cauz’s property on Oil Well Road to serve a search warrant concerning livestock at the residence being neglected or abused. While at the home, detectives found what appeared to be a grow-house operation in two separate rooms.

Within one of the two rooms, they located 30 marijuana plants in black plastic pots. In the second room, they found 57 plants. The marijuana weighed a total of 10.4 pounds.

Two 8-inch long baby alligators were also found in a water tub at the back of the property. The illegal possession of an American alligator is a first-degree misdemeanor.
