Deputies said a Port Charlotte man and two inmates at the charlotte county jail were charged Friday with attempting to smuggle drugs into the county jail.

Officials say 22-year-old Amanda Renee Combs and 23-year-old Elizabeth Dawn Apple who were incarcerated at the Charlotte County Jail, were planning to have Combs’ boyfriend, 40-year-old Harold Edward Ross assist in smuggling Oxycodone pills into the jail for them.

Ross, Combs and Apple were all arrested and booked into the Charlotte County Jail.

Ross was released on a $5,000 bond.

Combs and Apple are being held at the jail.
