ESTERO, FL –
The driver involved in a deadly crash that killed a motorcyclist Thursday night is charged with DUI, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened just before 10 p.m. and involved an SUV and a motorcycle.
Deputies closed US-41 in both directions from Constitution Boulevard to Corkscrew Road for about five hours while they investgated the scene.
The SUV, driven by 54-year-old Donna Lynne Brown, was traveling north on US-41 and made a U-turn at Constitution Boulevard.
Brown failed to see 54-year-old motorcyclist Carl Patrick traveling south on US-41 and struck him.
According to FHP, Brown did not stop after hitting Patrick and dragged him and his motorcycle for about three miles before she was stopped by deputies.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop north of Corkscrew Road on US-41.
Brown was arrested and charged with DUI Manslaughter, DUI Property Damage, Hit and Run with Death, DUI and Careless Driving.
