A Marco Island woman was arrested early this morning on DUI and child neglect charges after deputies say she was driving drunk with two children in the car.

Catherine Davison, 31, was pulled over after a Lee County deputy saw her make an illegal U-turn on Fort Myers Beach. She drove onto a sidewalk and around a fire hydrant before returning to the road.

Once he pulled her over, the deputy recognized Davison as a woman he had earlier seen “staggering around Fort Myers Beach,” the arrest report states. She also shouted obscenities at two deputies and 7-Eleven store clerks at that time.

The deputy that pulled Davison over said he saw two children in the back seat. One of them was an infant, born April 14, who was restrained, and the other was an 11-year-old girl. The deputy was able to determine Davison was impaired after speaking with her for several minutes. While he attempted to handcuff her, she became combative, but was eventually restrained.

The report states Davison’s mother came to the scene to take the two children.

Davison has been charged with DUI, DUI while having a child under the age 18 in the vehicle, child neglect, and obstruction. She remains in Lee County Jail without bond.
