Deputies found 11 marijuana plants growing outside near a gated community, Wednesday.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit advised ground patrol of a possible marijuana cultivation operation near the intersection of Cedar Oak Drive and Pine Oak Circle in the Forest Lake gated community in Fort Myers.

Aviation units guided deputies Wednesday to the southeast corner of the complex.

Deputies located 11 marijuana plants ranging in size from approximately 16 inches to 3 feet tall. The marijuana plants were collected and taken to be destroyed.

The total package weight of the plants was 6.6 pounds and the approximate street value was $11,000.
