17 arrested in Columbia County drug and weapons sweep

Seventeen people were charged in a narcotics and firearms sweep by a Columbia County task force Thursday following a 14-month investigation, authorities said.

The six-agency task force targeted a web of drug traffickers operating in Lake City and the surrounding county, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. During the operation, agents bought firearms and narcotics. Warrants also resulted in the seizure of cash and additional narcotics. More arrests are expected.

In addition to the Sheriff’s Office, the Lake City Police Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, State Attorney’s Office and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Drug Enforcement Administration were involved.

Those arrested include: Jon Bell, 38; Albert Johnson, 34; Lawyer West, 27; Travice Davis, 26; Roger Mayo, 55; Zina Williams, 48; Darnell Dixon, 23, Arnett Pierce, 30, Fred Wilson, 81; Elijah Dunning, 50; Marquis Robinson, 21; James Wilson, 40; Bathesheba Fudge, 37; Marquez Smith, 28; Cepeda Young, 46; Michael Harper, 21; Travis Smith, 32.
