Cape Coral police seize more than 10 pounds of marijuana

A search warrant led Cape Coral police to more than 10 pounds of marijuana and thousands of dollars in cash.

Thursday afternoon, police served a search warrant at 2115 NE 2nd Avenue after arresting Matthew Hermanns on a violation of probation charge. Hermanns, 31, is on probation for being accessory after the fact to an attempted homicide.

While searching Hermanns' residence, police found 14 ziploc bags of marijuana and a digital scale. The combined weight of the marijuana was 10.5 pounds.

In addition, police found more than $4,600, a box of .40 caliber ammunition and a Glock 27 case that contained 7 rounds. Hermanns admitted to owning the marijuana but denied owning the bullets, claiming they belonged to his wife.

He's been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver, violation of probation, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
