A 41-year-old Florida woman was taken to Charlotte County Jail after an incident on a recent Thursday morning. Court documents indicate that law enforcement pulled the driver over for various traffic violations, and ultimately filed drug charges. When she pulled over, she allegedly left the engine running, but a male passenger turned it off. The officer reports that the driver argued and when he realized she was about to pull off, he reached for the door to stop her.

The driver is accused of dragging the officer along for some distance, and when he managed to free himself, a high-speed chase ensued. This continued until the driver found herself in a dead end street, where she drove up a driveway and smashed into a pole. Law enforcement caught up and proceeded to arrest her.

Deputies allege that the driver resisted arrest by punching the deputies and the K9 officer on the scene. Further charges followed when her vehicle was towed away, and authorities discovered that her license was revoked. They also found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia for which she now faces possession charges.

When a driver in Florida is arrested on drug charges, it is essential to secure the services of an experienced criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. This could ensure the protection of the defendant throughout interviews and questioning with police. Legal counsel can scrutinize the procedures used by law enforcement during the arrest and address any issues in the court. A lawyer can be a valuable asset who can work to achieve the best possible outcome, which might even be reduced or dismissed charges.
