A six-month investigation on federal, state and local levels into fentanyl and crystal meth trafficking along Florida’s east coast culminated in almost 60 arrests. The drug charges include drug trafficking and racketeering. The county sheriff noted that the volume of fentanyl that was seized could kill everybody in the county.

Reportedly, along with fentanyl worth $100,000 and methamphetamine worth $81,000 authorities seized heroin, pills, 75 firearms and more than $100,000 in cash. The sheriff says the investigation is ongoing, and 40 more arrests Close to 60  pending. Reportedly, the organization was penetrated by agents, and according to court documents, multiple investigative techniques were used, including warrants to tap cellphones.

Reportedly, a 31-year-old woman is one of the primary distributors and was found with more than 250 grams of fentanyl and a pound of meth in her residence. A 35-year-old was arrested at a traffic stop after law enforcement, with the help of a K-9 officer, say they found nearly 30 grams of meth in his vehicle. Some of the others arrested are accused of distributing significant amounts of narcotics obtained by various methods.

While these individuals await their court proceedings, they will likely each obtain legal counsel to protect their individual rights. In similar circumstances, an experienced Florida attorney can help those facing drug charges by challenging the prosecution’s case and pursuing the most beneficial result possible for the client. This could be accomplished at trial, by fighting the formal accusations, through a negotiated plea agreement or by seeking dismissal of the formal charges based on constitutional or other legal grounds.
