Fort Myers man accused of weapons and drug crimes

Tips provided to the Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers led to an investigation into the activities of a man from North Fort Myers. The tips implicated the 65-year-old man in drug crimes that involved possession and dealing. The Lee County Sheriff's office responded by launching an investigation into the alleged drug deals by its undercover narcotics unit.

The arrest reports allege that an undercover officer approached the suspect during the sting operation and claims the man sold him some fentanyl. This led to the narcotics team obtaining a search warrant for the alleged drug dealer's home. Reportedly, the search yielded a variety of pills including amphetamine, alprazolam, clonazepam, hydrocodone, hydrochloride, oxycodone, and suboxone pills and strips. Officers also seized crack cocaine, fentanyl and Narcan along with $18,000 in cash and eight firearms.

After his arrest, the man was taken to the Lee County Jail where he remained on $180,000 bond. He is now awaiting his arraignment on multiple charges of possession and trafficking of the various prohibited and controlled substances found in his home. Additional charges related to the possession of firearms were filed.

The accused Florida man will likely retain the services of an experienced criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. Although his arrest does not indicate guilt, he will need the skills of a lawyer who has experience in dealing with cases involving drug crimes to protect his legal rights and seek a favorable resolution of the charges. The process might include going to trial to fight the formal accusations, or favorable sentencing considerations might result from a plea agreement.
